Haworth Cat Rescue has launched an appeal to build a new and environmentally friendly Cat Rehoming Centre in the Aire Valley to meet the pressing needs of the wide community we serve.

Behind Every Cat is a Person

Every year we help hundreds of unwanted, abandoned and surrendered cats find loving new homes.  In doing so, we reach out to people of all ages and from all walks of life who need our help too.

West Yorkshire is poorly served and the county has a disturbing track  record for animal welfare based on cruelty convictions, ranking second in England and Wales.  Bradford - our postcode - is cited as one of the worst cities.

As well as providing more than 100 rescue pens, the new Centre will enable us to run educational programmes for children instilling an understanding and appreciation of animals and their needs.  At our Centre they will discover what it means to be a responsible pet owner through learning about cat care first-hand.  The fully integrated eco concept for the new building will also provide fresh opportunities for learning, and help ensure the future well-being and sustainability of the environment we all share.

Moving towards financial sustainability, the Centre hopes to generate income through  (amongst other things) private cat boarding, a veterinary clinic, pet cemetery, private function rooms, gift shop and cafe.  A walled memorial garden open to the public will be a place of tranquility and contemplation.

But to succeed we need your help.

The new Centre will cost in the region of £2million (including land purchase) - an ambitious target for us as a local charity.  Yet, all it takes for success to be assured is for everyone reading this to donate or fundraise on our behalf.

Because behind every cat in need is a person who can make a difference.

YOU!
